The 24-year-old Frenchman Joris Delbove won the 4th stage of the Tour du Rwanda today, 27th February 2025, in Karongi. The TotalEnergies team rider was rewarded for his lightning attack in the last kilometre before the finish.
None of the riders accompanying him in the group of favourites was able to follow him and he was able to maintain a three-second lead, which enabled him to also take the yellow jersey that his team-mate Fabien Doubey was still wearing at the start this morning.
An escape had been formed in the first few kilometres by six African riders: Uwiduhaye (Rwanda), Nzafashwanayo (Rwanda-CMC), Nsengiyumya (Rwanda – Java-Inovotec), Lorot (Uganda – Team Amani), Munyaneza (Rwanda) and Matthews (South Africa).
They had managed to build up a healthy lead of more than 4 minutes, but the favourites for the general classification had done the work to catch up before the final.
Tomorrow, on 28th February, the 5th stage will take the riders from Rusizi to Huye.
