The RPF candidate Paul Kagame told Kicukiro district’s residents that their district’s name means wealth as it was the place of cattle growing and presently the place of fast development.
Kagame was addressing his supporters in Kicukiro today during his journey for the presidential election campaign rally in Gahanga sector where he promised to fast track development in his next leadership mandate.
“Do you know what Kicukiro means? With the absence of livestock, you can’t have (icukiro),” Kagame.
‘Icukiro’ is a Kinyarwanda word that means cow stool which is very important as manure fertilizer in agriculture.
“Kicukiro means the wealth of a place. It was a place of livestock and this should be the right moment to have them increased and to have the real Kicukiro,” he said.
Kagame also highlighted that the purpose of his journey to rally kicukiro residents was to plan together how to build a sustainable development for Rwanda.
“I have come here to plan together with you on how to continue building the country and Kicukiro in particular, we have many things to do now, before people used to join the town but now the town comes closer people, because Kicukiro itself has become the town, that’s development,” Kagame noted.
He continued saying that there is a number of plans aiming at developing the welfare of Rwandans.
Kagame also pointed that the day of August 4th, 2017 is the speed to accelerate the development of Rwandans.
“That’s what August 4th means; do you know what it means? It is the speed, when you are driving a car on your right side of the road; it takes speed and runs fast. So, the 4th of August is for the speed” Kagame said.
He promised support for those who are still weak (vulnerable) so that all people move fast towards the country’s development and every one’s welfare.
“I thank you to come with a good number to support the development and election to move fast together and reach far. We must support weak people to go together, elderly people and giving enough opportunities to the young generation to approach development,” Kagame noted.
Kagame told youth to play a role in planning of the future of Rwanda as they are the ones to serve the country then.
He gave them an assignment to end elections earlier in the morning of August 4th, 2017.
