FERWAFA to focus on youth development programme

In the just concluded Ordinary General Assembly held at Nyamata, Local football body Ferwafa has agreed to focus on youth and grassroots football development.

Rwanda Football Federation, FERWAFA held their 19th Ordinary General Assembly on Saturday 16th April 2016, at Golden Tulip Hotel in Nyamata, Bugesera District.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sports and Culture, Lt Col. Patrice Rugambwa graced the ceremony which attracted 40 members.

In his remarks, Lt. Col Rugambwa encouraged the members to fully engross in the development of youth football right from the grassroots and help children pursue their rights to both education and playing football.

He also urged the general assembly to include women in football administration and ensure that resolutions passed should be implemented for the good of football development in Rwanda.

Resolutions passed include;

  1. The General Assembly established an Adhoc Committee to make amends and approve the Financial Report of the federation before it’s sent to World Football body, FIFA.

The Adhoc Committee is comprised of Eric Ruhamiriza (ARAF), Gahigi Jean Claude (Bugesera Fc), Mukanoheli Saidat (SC Kiyovu) and Hunde Rubegasa Walter (Rugende FC).

  1. The General Assembly established an Adhoc Committee to make amends and approve President’s Activity Report. The Adhoc Committee to amend the President’s Activity Report includes Kanamugire Fidel (Heroes Fc Chairman), Donatien Nsengimana (Esperance), Ngendahayo Vedaste (United Stars) and Joseph Nshimiye (AS Kigali)
  2. A sustainable Youth Development plan aimed at developing grassroots football through technical centers was passed. The development plan will be established with an aim of protecting technical centers and young kids.

The Plan will see all technical centers in Rwanda operating under FERWAFA license and this will help FERWAFA to fully support their existence.

FERWAFA Executive Committee will visit all technical centers later this year before holding a technical forum involving all stake holders in the country to fully discuss on the road map to ensure a successful implementation of long-term Youth Development Plan.

  1. The General Assembly agreed to stick to the existing 3-foreign players’ policy in the Azam Rwanda Premier League despite requests from members to have the rule adjusted to accommodate a 3-Plus foreign players rule.
  2. All first and second division clubs have been urged to set up technical centers (boys & girls) and means of establishing regular competitions for these centers will be developed.
  3. The General Assembly approved the payment of Rwf.30m towards the Agaciro Development Fund (AgDF), which was set up to raise more domestic resources to help accelerate economic development. The Rwf.30m will be and additional to the Rwf.4.2m which was paid in August 2015.
