Kigali: The shortage of passenger vehicles continues to be a threat in transport

Some of those who monitor infrastructure say that to solve the problem of transporting passengers, especially in the city of Kigali, it is necessary to increase the number of entrepreneurs who invest in this sector.

It is while those who rent these cars complain about the services they receive from their owners. Although the problem of public transportation, especially in the city of Kigali, is not new, even now the users of these vehicles complain about the services they receive

Mediateur Hagenimana says “From Kabuga to Nyabugoigo it is difficult because there are no cars, we start at the waiting signs and we are disappointed, the next day they put more cars but nothing has been solved.”

Most of the users of these vehicles are those who work in the private sector, they say that they are also invested in losses and that they send them frequently and almost every day.

In order to solve this problem in a long-term way, those in the sector find that there should be measures to be put in place, including the increase of roads and the government continues to increase the sacrifices that attract investors in this sector by increasing the roads.

In the past few days, all the remedies that have been discussed for this problem, including increasing the companies that used to work in the province and come to work in the city of Kigali did not give the expected results.

Researcher Bayingina Peter finds that the government should ease taxes for international transport investors so that they can come to Rwanda so that the problem can be solved.

Engineer Jules Mutabazi Peterson is a city planner and one of the people involved in the reforms. He found that the transportation companies in the city do not have enough vehicles, so it is required to increase the coordination power as the city is becoming more populated.

On Monday, the Head of State asked those in charge to solve this problem this year.

Those who work in this field also say that in order to solve this problem, the government should increase the savings such as taxes and other fees for those who invest in this field of transportation, especially in the city of Kigali.
