Ismailia Diarra scored his first hat trick of the season as Rayon Sports fc smashed Bugesera fc 4-0 and recorded a fifteenth league win of the season in a game played on Wednesday at Stade de Kigali.
Burundian international Pierrot Kwizera squared in a set piece for Diarra who took advantage of Bugesera goalkeeper to break the deadlock in opening 8th minute of the game.
Moments last Kwizera doubled the lead in the 32nd minute to consolidate Rayon’s lead by dodging the opponent defense as well as the keeper to place the ball in an empty net. Two minutes later Diarra grabbed Rayon’s third.
After the re-start, Bugesera’s striker David made it for harder for his side when he was sent off for after receiving a second booking for an offence.
In the 73rd minute, the Malian completed his treble when he put the final nail in the coffin with a fourth goal which sent him to the top goal scoring chart with 13 goals, one ahead of teammate Davis Kasirye and SC Kiyovu’s Andre Lomami.
Coach Djuma Masudi’s team holds on to the second positon just a point behind defending champions APR fc which beat Gicumbi 3-0 on Tuesday, while drops to seventh place with 10 defeats so far.
Elsewhere, Mukura retained the third positon with 44 points following a 1-0 win over rivals Kiyovu at Mumena courtesy of a lone goal from Abrahim Nshimiyimana.
At Kicukiro stadium, law enforcers Police fc leapfrogged SC Kiyovu into fifth place thanks to a double from striker young and upcoming forward Danny Usengimana over relegation battling AS Muhanga.
In Nyamagabe, AS Kigali picket a valuable point in the 1-all draw against a stubborn Amagaju to retain the fourth place with 41 points. Amagaju elevates to ninth sit with 28 points.
At Rusizi, a slim edge by Etincelles fc over hosts Espoirs in a 1-0 victory moved them from the relegation coffin momentarily to 13th with 22 points. Former Amavubi and Rayon Sports striker Kambale Salite Gentil netted the lone goal while Espoir dropped to 14th with 21 points on Match Day 23.
In Rusizi, Etincelles Fc managed a slim 1-0 win over hosts Espoir Fc courtesy of a second half strike from Kambale Salita Gentil to move into 13th position with 22 points while Espoir Fc dropped to 14th with 21 points.
After Match Day 23, the three spots at the table remain unaltered, but APR and Rayon lead the two-horse race over Mukura by a seven point gap. Rwamagana City and AS Muhanga sit confortabley in the relegation zone.
After match day 23 fixtures, APR Fc and Rayon Sports still lead the two-horse race for the Azam Rwanda League title at the top of the standings while Rwamagana City and AS Muhanga sit comfortably in the relegation zone.
