Just ahead of the game, IPRC South head coach Didier Bineza was asked if they felt any pressure having reached the finals through a hard toil. “No we don’t we feel confident, because we played well this season.” Bineza said
But in the end, it wasn’t so simple for Bineza; the Patriots won the final game 52-45 on Saturday in Huye to take their first league championship.

The first two quarters were good for Bineza and his men, leading by 9-7 and 17-8 respectively, however Patriots switched gears when they managed to release their weakness by doing a decent job defensively which led them to win the third quarter when they jumped to lead by 16-8 and going on to seal the last quarter by outscoring IPRC South by 21-11 to lift the title by 52-45 points.
After the game, Bineza said they had played a fine game but failed to handle the pressure in the last quarters. Patriots are a strong team with good and experienced players.
His counterpart Coach Mwinuka who was excited said we are now the champions; I am grateful for the whole team.
Patriots Jean de Dieu Ntagunduka was named the best scorer having netted 12 times when he stepped up for team that needed him both on offense and defense. While Olivier Ikishatse scored 13 points for IPRC South.
Espoir Basketball team finished second, while IPRC South followed in the third position with 32 points.
