The Mambas of Mozambique jet in on Thursday ahead of Amavubi clash

The National football team of Mozambique the “Mambas” will arrive in Kigali on Thursday, where they will measure forces with the Rwandan counterpart Amavubi on Saturday in the CAF AFCON qualifiers 2017.

Today the “Mambas” will stay overnight in Johannesburg before setting off to Kigali in the early hours of Thursday June 2.

The visitors reach this match without any chances of qualifying for the CAF National Africa Championship.

According to the news from Football Mozambique Federation (FMF), head coach Abel Xavier has warned that the goal is to win in order to finish this campaign as best as possible.

While in Kigali they plan to make three practice sessions, and the last will be at Amahoro stadium which will host the game.

Xavier former professional footballer is remembered for his extravagant and flamboyant haircuts in clubs like Liverpool has returned defender Ronny Marcos, who plays in Germany and Lolo Jumisse of Estrela Vermelha in Serbian for the encounter.

He has also included South Africa-based Simon Dominguez, China-based defender Zainadine Abdula Chavango, Benfica youth team midfielder Reinildo Isnard but Simao Mate of Levante will not be making it.

Xavier comes in this round with just one point from four matches, they lost in the first round against Rwanda 0-1 at Zimpeto Stadium, and the same result consented to travel to Mauritius.

In March, they also lost to Black Stars of Ghana by 1-3 and days later drew with Ghana in Maputo goalless.

A win in Kigali will put all the three teams equal on six points, Ghana tops the group with 10 points and they need a victory on Sunday in the face of Mauritius to seal the clearance to Gabon in 2017.

Rwanda and Mauritius are in the second and third position respectively with six points; the Mambas are currently in the last place in the group with no points after 1-0 losses against Rwanda.

Midfielders: Loló (Estrela Vermelha), Eduardo Jumisse, Simon Dominguez, Gildo Hermenegildo Mutambe, Witiness Quembo, Arlindo Alexandre Mayunda, Jair Sebastião.

Forwards: James Pondamale Nelito, Reginaldo Artur Faife, Luis Miquissone and Apson Manjate Sonito.
