The Young Pharaoh, Egyptian head coach Moatemed Gamal, has said that winning all three points away from home will be crucial for his side.
Coach Gamal who is facing the Junior Amavubi (Wasps) of Rwanda in the third and final round of the CAF-AFCON Under-20 qualifiers on Sunday at Stade de Kigali told the media during a training session on Friday at FERWAFA Remera artificial turf:
“We thought we were playing Uganda but later heard that we shall face Rwanda, to us it does not change anything because both teams are from the same region and they are all at the same level in the FIFA rankings.”
“I believe that we have prepared well for the game and we have come to win all the three points. If we win away from home it is very important because it gives us an upper hand since you don’t play under pressure when hosting the return leg.” Coach Gamal explained.
The coach further said it is the first time for most of his players to come to Rwanda, the country is good we were given a cordial welcome though we do not know much about their youth team but we shall see the rest at the pitch.
The Egyptian Under-20 national team arrived in Kigali on Thursday afternoon with a 34-man delegation aboard Ethiopian Airlines. The second leg of this tie will be played on the weekend of June 10-12 in Cairo and the winner will face the winner between will face Angola and Gabon as the battle for a slot at a U-20 Afcon in Zambia next year.
Meanwhile, Head coach Jean Baptiste Kayiranga, said the players are in high spirits ahead of the game, and they are preparing well.
“We are facing one of the biggest countries in African football, but in football everything is possible.”
