The UK is ready to send migrants to Rwanda, the Senate approved

On Sunday 19th, 2023, the British government announces that it will start sending to Rwanda, immigrants who entered the country illegally, while the authorities confirm that the policy is legal.

The Office of the Ministry of Defense in the country said that they are ready to start transporting migrants by plane before the start of this year.

This information was mentioned after the British minister of defense in the country, Suella Braverman, visited Rwanda. This trip was meant to show that his government still stands by that plan.

She met with President Paul Kagame and the Minister of Foreign affairs, Vincent Biruta. She also visited the place where the immigrants who will be removed from England will be placed.

The UK and Rwanda have signed an agreement stating that some of the migrants who arrive in the UK in small boats will be sent back to Rwanda soon. Since the signing of the agreement, he has faced legal obstacles so far that no one has been fired.

More than 45,000 people arrived in the UK by boat in 2022, compared to 8,500 in 2020.

Human rights organizations see Rwanda as a country where human rights are not respected saying that it’s cruel to send people to a country 6,400 kilometers away and they don’t feel like living there.

The British government has prepared a law that hides anyone who arrives in the country by boat or by other illegal means to request asylum. While the preparation of the law will be approved by the parliament, the government will take the immigrants who have arrived and send them back to their countries or to another country that accepts them like Rwanda.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) says the UK’s law is in breach of international conventions on refugees.
