Panorama

Kigali, 18th August 2025 – The Development Bank of Rwanda Plc (BRD) has earned two globally recognized ISO certifications, ISO/IEC 27001:2022 for Information Security and ISO 22301:2019 for Business Continuity Management Systems. These certifications affirm BRD’s commitment to uninterrupted service delivery, safeguarding client information, and compliance with globally recognized standards.

Awarded by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) through the Certification Board (MSECB), an internationally accredited body that certifies organizations across multiple disciplines worldwide, these recognitions place BRD among the few financial institutions in the region meeting such rigorous global standards.

For our clients, what does this mean?

  • Enhanced Information Security– BRD guarantees the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive information throughout processing, transmission, and storage.
  • Uninterrupted Services– With strong business continuity systems in place, clients can rely on BRD’s ability to maintain operations even in the face of disruptions.
  • Greater Trust and Confidence – BRD demonstrates resilience and accountability, reinforcing its role as a reliable financial partner.

Achieving ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO 22301 required months rigorous preparation, including extensive capacity building and a comprehensive risk assessment of the Bank’s systems, policies, and procedures to ensure full alignment with international standards.

“Our clients entrust us with what matters most—their financial information and access to essential services. These certifications confirm that BRD meets the international standards for information security and service reliability. Clients can be assured that we are not only safeguarding their information but also strengthening the resilience of our systems so they can count on us anytime, anywhere,” said Kampeta Sayinzoga, CEO of BRD.

The certifications mark a major milestone in BRD’s digital transformation journey. As the Bank and the wider financial sector accelerate the adoption of digital services and financial technologies, BRD is setting a benchmark for robust cybersecurity and operational resilience, ensuring it remains a trusted partner in driving Rwanda’s sustainable economic growth.
