Rwanda’s Cabinet, chaired by President Paul Kagame in Kigali on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, appointed broadcast Senior journalist Jean Maurice Uwera as Deputy Spokesperson in the Office of the Government Spokesperson (OGS).
A graduate of the Institut Catholique de Kabgayi Journalism program, and University of Rwanda, School of Journalism and Communication, Uwera fills the position left vacant since Alain Mukuralinda’s death in April 2025 and will support Spokesperson Mrs. Yolanda Makolo.
Colleagues celebrated his professionalism in handling tough debates, with peers like Sam Karenzi sharing proud congratulations. The move highlights Rwanda’s focus on skilled communicators amid socio-economic reforms.
