Rayon Sports head coach Roberto Oliveira has said that his main focus and concentration is on the CAF Confederation game against Yanga Africans of Tanzania but not signing and testing of new players.
Roberto and his side will battle Yanga FC on Wednesday at Nyamirambo stadium in what has been described as must win and best chance if Rayon is to seal last sixteen spot.
“My concentration is on the big game not signing new players which is good and very important not only for the club but Rwanda because a win against Yanga means we qualify to the next stage,” Roberto said after training on Saturday.
The Brazilian, however, admits he has a challenge because some of his key players like Yannick Mukunzi (suspended), Olivier ‘Sefu’ Niyonzima and Thierry Manzi (Capt), as well as striker Crist Mbondi, will miss the game.
“I am navigating around to see who should captain the team, finding the replacements for the suspended players. Abdul Rwatubyaye and Gabi Mugabo off course can steer the team,” Roberto says.
Right now he added, “I have no time to look at the newcomers my focus and is centered on the important game. We have respect for Yanga FC; it is a big team with good players, so we have to be very careful,” he explained.
Gor Mahia still leads Group D with eight points, same as second-placed USM Alger, who lost by the same margin to Yanga SC (4 points) while Rayon has 6 points a win and a defeat for either Gor or USM means the Rwandan team is through to the next round.
In the first meeting, both teams drew goalless in a CAF Confederation Cup Group D match played away in Tanzania in May. All teams have played five matches each.
Meanwhile, the decisive tie will be handled by Ugandan officials led by center referee Mashood Ssali, assisted by Mark Ssonko, Dick Okello, and Chelanget Ali Sabila as the fourth official, according to CAF.
